Up Close and Personal“Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, for in You do I trust. Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to You.” (Psalm 143:8) King David is the only person in the Bible whom God describes as a man after His own heart. Despite his many imperfections he continually sought to know and do God’s will in his life. Like many of us, his stubborn me-first will got in the way of a sinless life. In the morning, however, David sought to hear from God from the terrace of his opulent palace overlooking the hills in Jerusalem. There, in his morning watch, he felt God’s unfailing love, he reaffirmed his trust in God and understood that the key to knowing God’s will lie in spending moments alone to reflect on what God had done and was doing in his life. Many of us are led to believe that God is not concerned, that He does not lead us in the path of life. The truth is God is in every aspect of our lives and desires to direct us every step of the way. If you need direction in your life today, then get Up Close and Personal with God like David did. Dedicate every morning without Robert Redford or Michelle Pfeiffer to draw close to God’s presence by meditating on His Word or reading these emails. You will sense God’s unfailing love for God loves you and He is faithful and can’t wait to perform His Word. His direction for your life will be a natural byproduct of time spent with Him. Ask God to lead you by His Holy Spirit. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. And when God is near, you will experience what Peter called joy unspeakable and full of glory (1 Peter 1:8).
