Charlie’s Angels

“Bless the LORD, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His Word, heeding the VOICE of His Word.” (Psalm 103:20)

Many of us have watched or seen reruns of the TV series Charlie’s Angels of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Some of us have even seen the movie with Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu and can’t wait for the sequel. Contrary to what Hollywood has been feeding us, angels are not pretty women who can shoot, punch, jump, dive, scream and kick. According to Hebrews 1:14, angels are ministering spirits sent forth by God to minister to us as those who will inherit salvation. Yes, their job is to assist us in receiving our inheritance of glory from God our heavenly Father. Angels respond to prayers or confessions when they are in line with God’s Word. In Daniel 6, Daniel was thrown into the lions’ den but he prayed, and God sent an angel to shut the mouths of the lions. Long before Disney can sketch Simba or Mufasa, Daniel was The Lion King.

When the church prayed for Peter, an angel came and delivered him from prison in Acts 12. Angels also watch what we do with our money. When the angel of God appeared to Cornelius, the angel said, “Your prayers and your alms [giving] have come up for a memorial before God” (Acts 10:4). Angels watch our response to authority. James 4:7 says, “Submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you.” Angels are created beings that respond to authority, and they watch for our response to God’s authority as we submit to Him so they can help us to resist the devil and his demonic crew. Angels watch over our sacrifice. Abraham was ready to kill his only son Isaac when an angel said, “Stop!” (Genesis 22). If sacrifice is involved in any part of our lives, God will bring angels to help us. Angels excel in strength, they are powerful creatures, for even one can kill 185,000 Assyrians on behalf of King Hezekiah in 2 Kings 19:35. You put God’s angels, and they are much more powerful and numerous than Charlie’s Angels, to work for you when you SPEAK the Word over your situation and they will bring you your healing, deliverance, prosperity, harvest, favor, increase, promotion, and all the inheritance of salvation that God has richly given you.
