Falling Down“Brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure; for if you do these things, you shall never fall.” (2 Peter 1:10) Many of us have been tripped up by the devil so many times that the only time we think about Falling Down is when we watch that Michael Douglas movie. But the truth is, the Word of God says we shall never fall if we apply diligence to make our calling and election sure. Let’s face it, we can’t be strong on the Word of God and not pick up our Bibles daily. Even if we attend church with Al Pacino On Any Given Sunday and Cameron Diaz is on the same pew, that won’t get the job done. Yet most believers try to get by on that next to nothing diligence that is way below God’s recommended daily allowance. That is why we have churches all over the world filled with spiritually anemic folks who don’t have enough faith to even chase a used demon. Like Kiefer Sutherland on 24, the devil’s out there 24 hours a day crafting ways to make us fall. God, on the other hand, is on the throne 24/7 giving us power to resist him and to claim our victory and inheritance of glory that was purchased with the precious Blood of Jesus. If we’re going to stand strong in the turbulent days ahead, we’re going to need a whole lot more than Sunday faith. We’re going to need high-octane, Supersized, mountain-moving faith, and there’s only one sure way to get that – by studying the Word of God more diligently than we have ever done before. Give diligence to make your calling and election sure, and no matter how tough things gets or how many banana peels the devil may throw at you, you won’t have to fall and take a beating like Lee Majors or The Fall Guy.
