The
Pledge
Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God. For I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God. (Psalm 43:5) Even though the
Bible tells us to hope in God and our dollar bills tell us to trust
in God, many of us still put our hope in the Merrill Lynch bull, in
our 401k, in gold, in the dollar, in stocks and bonds, in the DOW, S&P,
Russell and Nasdaq. Some of us even irrationally place our hope in Alan
Greenspan the central banker and they have been disappointed because
they don't hope in God. Why can we put our hope in God? Because like
Jack Nicholson in The Pledge, God is a promise keeper, and He has a
sterling record of keeping His promises. We may see some floods today,
but God told Our God is a promise keeper and Lamentions 3:23 says great is His Faithfulness. God's promises are designed to make us into bearers of hope to people who are lost, sick, poor or dying. Colossians 1:27 says that Christ, or The Anointed One and His Anointing, in us is the hope of glory. If we have the mind of Christ by meditating on the Word day and night so that our mind is transformed, and we have Christ in your heart, we carry Bible hope. The hope we carry is the hope of glory, that is, the hope that the glory of God will manifest in and through our lives so that others will be drawn to us and hear first hand the good news of salvation and get saved so they too can glorify God. This hope is based on nothing less than the faithfulness of God Almighty Himself and the truth of His Word. What God has promised in His Word, He will perform for us. We may not be faithful to God nor do we obey His Word all the time, but He is always faithful to us, and He will never leave us nor forsake us. Hope in God, practice divine economics by tithing, giving and sowing in good soil purposely so we can reap and receive all the time and His glory will help us transcend the shortcomings of the economies of men.
