Glory Days

“For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.” (Habakkuk 2:14)

The Hebrew word for glory in the Bible is kabod which literally means heaviness or the full weight, the true nature of a thing. The earth is full of the glory of God and the heavens declare the glory, or the majestic nature of God (Psalm 19:1). The nature of a thing reveals its true self, and that is its glory. Residing in every created thing is an expression of God's true nature, or His glory. We are earthen vessels filled with the treasure of God's glory (2 Corinthians 4:6-7). When we act like God and obey His Word, we reveal His nature and fill the earth with His glory. We are to live and die expressing that glory. Even though
Jesus opened the eyes of the blind, healed the sick, fed the 5000, turned water into wine, walked on water, raised the dead, and cast out demons, His full weight of glory was His death and resurrection. Jesus said in John 17:1, "Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You." Jesus was saying, "The time has come to show My full weight of glory, to show my heaviness, my goodness, to show the world
how divine I AM."

God was glorified when Jesus finished the work God gave Him to do, which is to destroy the works of the devil and restore what Adam lost at the Garden of Eden. Jesus paid the price for all of our sins, poverty, sickness with His precious Blood. When Vincent Van Gogh paints a picture, that's his glory. He died broke, but he left a legacy and his paintings are now the most expensive on earth. The most powerful thing we can do in
the world is to complete the work God gave us, which is to fulfill the Great Commission to finance or preach the gospel to the lost, to evangelize the whole world with the good news of salvation. As more people get saved and filled with the Holy Spirit, the glory of God increases with every single new soul added to the Kingdom of God. We are not ready to die until we can say, "I have finished the work God gave me," and until that
time, we all should be living Glory Days like Bruce Springsteen and get busy filling the earth with the glory of God.
