The Perfect Storm

“But when he saw the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” And IMMEDIATELY Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” (Matthew 14:30-31)

If there’s any way the devil can get your eyes off from the Word of God, he'll do it. He’ll cause trouble or make the circumstances around you pitch, rock and roll tempestuously like George Clooney’s boat in The Perfect Storm. He’ll do anything he can to get you to look at the five senses and the dire straits around you instead of on the rich, empowering and everlasting promises of God. The devil knows that if he doesn’t, you’ll take that promise, confess the Word in faith, believe you receive, and do a Rodney King on him.

That’s what the devil did to Peter. When Peter got out of the boat in response to Jesus’ word, what happened? He walked right on the water without any problem. His whole being was fastened on that rhema word Jesus had spoken to him, “Come!” But when he took his eyes off that rhema spoken word, he started looking at the storm surrounding him, he started looking at the impossible thing he was doing. After all, he was a seasoned fisherman and his experience reminded him when the waves were that high that he was not going to make it. He started to focus on what he knew in the natural instead of what Jesus said in the supernatural. When he did that, his faith slipped and he started to sink. Notice that the minute he cried out for help, Jesus IMMEDIATELY saved him. It was so fast that Peter didn’t even have to dial 911.

Are you in a storm right now Financial storm, marital storm, litigation storm, physical storm or emotional storm? Is your life like a vast desert of broken dreams, failures, hardships and nothingness with no defense against Desert Storm? If so, DO NOT let what happened to Peter happen to you, for you were made to walk on the water of your cicumstances. Once you get a revelation from the Word of God through meditation, prayer, Bible study, hearing a sermon or reading these emails, hang onto it. Don’t focus on anything else in the natural realm or the five physical senses. The devil will do everything he can to get you to shake it loose. He’ll stir up things around you. He’ll try to get you so much into fear so that you’ll back out of faith. Fear is just the opposite of faith. In fact, FEAR stands for false evidence appearing real. He’ll push every button he can from the past to get you back into your old carnal way of thinking. But the Word of God commands us many times in the Bible to FEAR NOT.

So don’t let go of the Word. Keep your eyes on the Word of God and speak the Word from your mouth every single day until it’s more real inside you than your circumstances, until it is not just second nature, but first nature. If you do and keep on doing so until the Word of God becomes your basic instinct as you renew your mind with the mind of Christ, you’ll be able to walk on water just like Peter. Any storm you may face just becomes The Perfect Storm as long as God is in it to deliver you. But you have to make it perfect by speaking the Word of God on the matter and spend quality time in daily fellowship with your heavenly Father.
