Bringing Up BabyAs newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. (1Peter 2:2-3) The 1938 Cary Grant movie Bringing Up Baby is Gods message for us to grow spiritually. In order to receive the spiritual nourishment we need from God, we need to have to have the simple child-like faith of a baby, not Katherine Hepburn. When a baby is crying because he is hungry and wants to be fed, he knows his mother would not ignore him. God put it in that baby to know that if he cries, she will answer. The baby expects the answer and he gets it every time. If we believers as children of God ask for milk, He will give us Satisfaction and not a scorpion, a snake or a Rolling Stone. When the baby sucks, he creates a vacuum in his mouth which extracts the milk. We need to empty ourselves of the pride, sin and selfishness before we can receive from God. Prayer and meditation on Gods Word is creating a vacuum inside our hearts so God can fill it with His Holy Spirit, His goodness and His glory. When the baby is tiny, the mother has to bring milk to him and show him where it is. But as he gets older, he automatically knows where to find the milk and he can reach out and get it himself. The more we practice receiving nourishment from God, the more time we spend searching the rich promises in His Word, the better we know where to find it. As long as we keep on sucking, well get more and more revelation because God has a limitedless capacity to give. We will grow from sucking on the milk of the Word to dining with the meat of the Word as we are edified spiritually and as we are changed from glory to glory and from faith to faith. The more we ask, the more well get, the more we knock, the more it'll be opened for us, and the more we seek, the more well find. Copyright © 2002 Eddy Ministries. All rights reserved.
