A Knight’s Tale“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” (Ephesians 6:11) Ephesians 6:12 tells us that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the wicked forces of darkness. Luckily, we don’t have to wait for a white knight to rescue us for God has given us His Armor All to protect us from the top of our head to the sole of our feet. (Ephesians 6:13-18.) All of us, including Heath Ledger, can live A Knight’s Tale by putting on the armor of God daily. First, we wear the helmet of salvation to protect our mind because as our mind is renewed by the Word of God, the salvation of our soul is made perfect. We then put on the breastplate of righteousness, which covers our heart for Romans 10:10 says that with the heart we believe so we can receive salvation. Next, we wear the belt of truth because we are truth warriors, living in the real truth of God’s Word. Forget about Nike, Just Do It and put on our gospel shoes of peace so we can walk all over the devil in perfect peace, in wholeness with nothing missing, nothing broken in our lives. For our offensive weapon we take the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. When we are rich in the Word, it’ll come out of us when we speak it boldly. Above all, take up the shield of faith to quench the devil’s fiery darts. Faith is an encompassing force field that surrounds our home, our family, our business, our finances and everything that concerns us. The Bible declares not once, but four times, that the just shall live by his faith. We don’t live by money, fear or circumstances but by faith in God and His Word of truth. Last, but not least, we are to pray in the Spirit every day. When we don’t know what to pray for as we ought to, we can pray in tongues and tap into the Holy Spirit’s perfect prayer (Romans 8:26). When we’re dressed to kill in God’s armor every day, no matter what the devil throws at us, we can be confident because we are much more than conquerors, armed and dangerous with God’s Lethal Weapon to enforce His will on earth and take back what the devil has stolen.
