A
Time to Heal
“If
My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray
and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear
from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2
Chronicles 7:14)
Bush Jr may want to attack Iraq, John Grisham may have penned A Time
To Kill and Matt Damon may have starred in the movie, but God says now
is A Time To Heal. After 911, many people suddenly turn back to God
in search of protection, restoration and healing. Churches are getting
packed, Bibles are getting bought or dusted, prayer and candlelight
vigils are commonplace throughout America and the rest of the world.
While many people keep up appearances of being spiritual, God has outlined
four steps involved in healing our land in His Word to King Solomon.
The
first is humility, we all need to eat some humble pie, stop being the
captain of our souls and the master of our fate and confess our limitations
and our need. The second is prayer, being alone with God to confess
our sins and trangressions. Then we are to seek God’s face, studying
the Word daily until we know what He is saying to us, for it is in the
Word of God that we see the face of God. We are to seek His face and
not His hand. Lastly, we are to turn from our wicked ways, from selfishly
chasing power, profit, prestige or pleasure where God is nowhere near
number ONE. Once we become humble, pray and study the Word to see Him,
we will be aware of the need to abandon those things which are out of
the will of God. It’s God’s way or the highway, and wicked
ways which are contrary to God’s ways must be eliminated.
Tom Hanks is on the Road To Perdition, but God in response to our Road
To Contrition will hear from heaven for He is totally aware of what
is going on, and He will know when we have met the requirements. What
blessed assurance we have, that God is so concerned about us He rejoices
when we choose to follow Him and obey His Word. Secondly, God will forgive
our sins, not just our individual sins of fornicating, lying, stealing
and cheating but the sins of our fathers and the sins of the nation
in killing innocent babies through abortion, in kicking God out of public
schools, in warmongering for profits, and in condoning homosexuality
as an alternative lifestyle. If
God heard but did not act, it could be devastating. But God does act
for He promises that He will forgive our trespasses.
Finally,
God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above what we ask or think when
He begins to heal our land. He will heal our families, our bodies, our
marriages, our children, our finances, our freedom, our privacy, our prosperity,
our governments and restore the rights guaranteed by the Constitution.
Our forefathers established a covenant with God with the Mayflower Compact
in 1620 and God intends to keep His promise to bless our land. Many pray
for revival, but real revival is the result of people turning from their
wicked ways and going God’s way. Michael Landon may have given us
glimpses of the Highway to Heaven, but only God can take us there.
