Shadow Dancing“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust. Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence.” (Psalm 91:1-3) Even with the snipers apprehended, is it possible to live free from fear and terror in this dangerous and unpredictable world after 911? Most definitely, because protection is a solid promise of God, and unlike Don Corleone, He does not charge an arm and a leg for His protection fee. But protection is not a promise that’s offered to just anyone, it is promised only to those who abide in God. To abide means to dwell, to continue and to remain. Shadow Dancing is more than just an Andy Gibb dance song from the disco era of the 1970s. It is to abide in the shadow of El Shaddai, God Almighty, to live daily in continual union with Him, meditating on and keeping His Word, getting filled by His Holy Spirit and obeying His voice. Those who abide in the LORD can live without the Fear Factor of what the devil, the terrorists, the extremists, the mob, the ex-spouse, the stalker, the taxman, the criminals, the lawyers or even what the government will do. God’s promise of protection, however, doesn’t guarantee that the devil will leave you alone. Far from it for the devil is still the god of this world and he knows that his days are numbered and will do all he can to attack the children of God in these last days. God’s protection will give you a way of escape every time the devil or his crew try to step all over you like a Persian rug. If you are afraid of the dangers around you, spend more time in the Word of God and in prayer until your trust in God overcomes your fear. Read the entire chapter of Psalm 91 and absorb all the promises of divine protection whenever you travel or even leave the house. Do you want to be free from the snare of the fowler or from perilous pestilence like Ebola, AIDS, West Nile, smallpox or other deadly plagues that the Center for Disease Control hasn’t identified yet? Do you want to avoid Fowl Play so you can wing it? Then draw closer to God until you are Shadow Dancing or abiding in the shadow of the Almighty.
