Twins

“Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance [or patience], so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.” (Hebrews 10:35-36)

Many of us have seen the comedy Twins with Arnold Schwarzanegger and Danny DeVito. The Bible has the story of twins too and that is Jacob and Esau. But the most powerful example of Twins is the synergy between faith and patience. Faith is believing in God and what His Word says. Patience or the state of being persistently constant, is the power twin of faith. They work together to see to it that the promises of God in the Word of God are fulfilled in your life. If you need finances or prosperity to increase, you can go to the Word and see that God promises to provide for your needs. You’ll see that God takes pleasure in the prosperity of His servants in Psalm 35:27. Once you see that you are much more than His servants but are one of His children, you can see how much more pleasure God will get from your prosperity. God owns it all and He wants you to enjoy the good things of life, provided you’ve done His will. Your faith rises and you declare, “Praise the LORD, I’ll give God pleasure with my prosperity.”

But what happens to that faith next week when you get laid off, the bill collectors start calling and the wife gets cancer? That’s when the power twin of faith called patience needs to take over. That’s when you have to decide to stay persistent, constant, to act as if the Word of God is the final authority in your life. The truth is, if you based your confidence on the Word of God, nothing has changed. So, if you’ll put patience to work, you’ll know what you’re going to say after your checks bounced. You’ll say, “Hallelujah, I’ve got the things I need for my God supplies all my need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus!” like you did before. Faith opens the door to God’s promise, but patient endurance keeps it open until that promise is fulfilled. Do you have the faith set on a promise of God in His Word, a promise you’ve been waiting on for like salvation for your loved ones, a better job, a house that is debt free, healing of your body or your marriage? Seek to do the will of God by obeying His Word, put
patience to work, do not cast away your confidence in God for the Word of God guarantees you will receive your great reward after you have done the will of God.
