A Less Than Perect MurderNow it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out to his brethren and looked at their burdens. And he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his brethren. So he looked this way and that way, and when he saw no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand. (Exodus 2:11-12) Michael Douglas may have orchestrated A Perfect Murder of Gwyneth Paltrow, but Moses murder of the Egyptian was not so perfect. Moses enjoyed royal status in the courts of Pharaoh, but he saw the suffering of his Hebrew people, the bondage and the injustice at the hands of the Egyptians. Moses was mad as hell, and he decided he would take matters into his own hands. The result was A Less Than Perfect Murder. His heart was honorable, but the action was wrong, dead wrong. Long before Harrison Ford was around, Moses was The Fugitive when he fled to the desert, where God prepared him to ultimately deliver the nation of Israel. But it took 40 long years of herding sheep, obscurity, humility and divine preparation before God determined Moses was ready to deliver when He showed up in the burning bush. Moses was like many of us who seek to solve a spiritual problem with a carnal arsenal. Our greatest danger is our greatest strength the knowhow, ability and expertise to get things done. Reliance on fleshly ability, however, can become our greatest weakness when it comes to spiritual matters. We need to watch Curb Your Enthusiasm because like Moses, if our passionate enthusiasm are not subdued by the power of the Holy Spirit, we will fail miserably. Peter had to learn this lesson too for his enthusiasm got him into lots of trouble. But God was patient, just as He is patient with each of us. God may place us in the backside of the Midian desert like Moses for some time in order to marinade us so that His nature and likeness will reign supreme. Before you do something, lose your carnal mind, pray and seek the mind of Christ until you know that its God behind you. Meditate on the Word, seek counsel from others who are more spiritual than you are, get edified by them so you can avoid the misery and save yourself a long trip to the desert.Copyright © 2002 Eddy Ministries.
