The DeepThose who go down to the sea in ships, who do business on great waters. They see the works of the LORD, and His wonders in the deep. (Psalm 107:23-24) Many of us have seen the 1977 movie The Deep with Nick Nolte and Jacqueline Bisset. Recently, Tilda Swinton starred in The Deep End. The Bible too has references to The Deep. The disciples testified of what they saw and heard that it was the power behind the gospel, the power of the Word of God, not the words themselves, that changed the world and increased the power of the early Church. The power wasnt seen until circumstances evolve to where there were no alternatives but God. God has to take us into The Deep or even The Deep End in order to give us the vision to see His great and mighty works. Sometimes God takes us into such deep waters that we lose control, and have no choice but to fully trust in His provision and timing for us. This is doing business in great waters, for it is only in The Deep where there is none of us and all of Him that we see the signs and wonders of God. The Bible is the Word of God, and it is only when we dig deeply into it day and night that we receive powerful revelations, wisdom and anointings that will take us to where no man has gone before. God may take us into the great waters of life for quite some time. Joseph was taken into deep waters of hardship for 13 years with betrayal by his brothers, enslavement to Potiphar, imprisonment on false charges of rape by Potiphars wife, and neglect by the chief butler for two years. During those times, the favor of God never left him, he had the power to interpret dreams, received a special anointing to govern, and wisdom well beyond his years. The Deep was preparation for a global task so great he never could have imagined it, for him to be The Prince of Egypt to receive the wealth transfer from other nations and to deliver his people from famine. God had so much at stake for the young 30-year-old that He took Joseph through the deep waters of adversity to mold his character so that he would survive the test of power and prosperity. If God takes us into The Deep, it is only for a good reason and the greater the calling, the deeper the water. Trust in God and His Word that your deep waters are nothing but preparation to see the mighty works of God about to be unleashed in your life.Copyright © 2002 Eddy Ministries. All rights reserved.
