Addicted to Love“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-8) In the 1997 romantic comedy Addicted To Love, Matthew Broderick and Meg Ryan were so drunk with love that they schemed to get back their exes by destroying their exes’ current relationship. God is love and He too wants us to be addicted to His kind of love because the God kind of love never fails. Love makes the world go around. Nothing works without love, and there can be no failure with it. When we live by love, we simply cannot fail because God says so in His Word. It takes faith in the Word of God to believe that the way of love, not The Way of The Gun, will not fail. The carnal mind doesn’t understand this because the natural man is ruled by selfishness, and his world by the god of SELF. When we practice love by faith and refuse to seek our own interests, God will work wonders for us. As long as we stay in love and take care of God’s business by living in obedience to His Word and share the good news of salvation by whatever means or support ministries that preach the Word, God will take care of our business. God’ll see to it that we’ll prosper in whatever we do. Walking in love, therefore, is to our benefit. The agape love of God is more powerful than Adam Sandler’s Punch-Drunk Love. It is not puffed up like Puff Daddy but it rejoices in the truth of the Word of God. It thinks no evil, believes the best in everyone, suffers long, endures till the end and possesses a new kind of power that makes us the head and not the tail. With love, no weapon that is formed against us will prosper. (Isaiah 54:17) The weapons will be formed no doubt because the devil still is the god of this world, but they just won’t prosper. No sickness, disease, terror, deception, debt, lack, or oppression will succeed against us. Nothing can hurt our feelings because we are not ruled by the roller coaster of emotions but by the unconditional, powerful agape love of God. We as God’s children are to be as loving as He does because we have the mind of Christ. This love is so incredible that Huey Lewis can only sing about The Power of Love. If we can just fathom the immense benefits of God’s Endless Love, we’d find it Simply Irresistable like Robert Palmer.
