Fleshdance

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.” (2 Corinthians 10:3-4)

Flashdance was a great dance movie with a nice soundtrack in 1983, but many believers today are losing major battles in their lives because of Fleshdance. They’re dancing in the dark, fighting the wrong enemy with the tools of the flesh. They’ve been deceived into believing that just because someone said or did something to hurt them, that person is the one they must fight. But the Bible says we do not wrestle with flesh and blood, and since humans are flesh and blood, they’re not the source of our problems.

The real enemy is stated clearly in Ephesians 6:12, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” The devil and his demonic forces are our real enemies for they are behind every slight, every temptation, every oppression, every betrayal, every affront, and every persecution we may face.

The people who hurt, cheat and persecute us are just being used by the devil. Persecution is not the manifestation of another person’s hatred for us, rather it represents the devil’s fear of us. When we meditate on the Word of God daily and start speaking the Word with boldness and wielding it like the sword of the Holy Spirit that it really is, the devil gets scared and looks for someone he can use to stop us. So the next time someone hurts you, don’t waste your time fighting them. Forgive them but bind the evil spirit behind them and claim their deliverance in the mighty Name of Jesus.
