Vertigo

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God (from the Greek theopneustos or divinely breathed in by God), and is profitable for doctrine [what’s right], for reproof [what’s wrong], for correction [to get right], for instruction in righteousness [for staying right], that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
(2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Many of us have seen the Alfred Hitchcock 1958 classic Vertigo with James Stewart and Kim Novak. Similarly, pilots – Top Gun or not – flying in poor weather, can experience vertigo. They cannot tell by looking out the windows whether the plane is turning, flying level, going up or coming down. They become disoriented as to where the aircraft is in relation to the ground, and the sad thing is they are not even aware they are experiencing vertigo. The only safe way to fly in such poor visibility conditions is to read and trust the instruments onboard. The pilot must guide the plane by what the instruments tell him is truth and had JFK Jr relied on his instruments, he may not have crashed.

“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” (Proverbs 14:12) Many believers, however, choose to neglect the instrument of God's Word and navigate their lives with the GPS of Basic Instincts or feelings which are utterly unreliable when it comes to discerning right from wrong, giving them false information causing spiritual vertigo.

In the world we live in today, the Bible should be to us what the instrument panel is to the pilot so that we wont experience Vertigo. We must ignore the sinful, confusing, tempting, and misleading stimuli our senses are getting from the world, the flesh and the devil, and meditate on the truth of the Word of God so we can be guided to our destination of victory and prosperity. The Bible is a God-given instrument to lead us to God and to His will for our lives.

It is the will of God for us to be in a right relationship with Him and the only way is through His Son Jesus. We are to believe in Lord Jesus the Christ so that our household will be saved (Acts 16:31), repent of all our sins (Acts 17:30), confess Jesus with our mouths (Romans 10:9-10), and be baptized for newness of life (Romans 6:3-4). We need to follow the instrument panel of God’s Word to the letter and DO whatever it says to do.

If the Word says to forgive, to give, to tithe, to witness, to sow in someones life, to present our bodies as a living sacrifice or whatever our fleshs dont feel like doing, then we must do it. If we obey His Word, God will forgive us, bless us and lead us to that glorious landing He has prepared for us from before the foundation of the world.
