Die Another Day

“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.” (John 12:24)

Long after You Only Live Twice of the 1960s and Live and Let Die of the 1970s, James Bond lives on in the new millennium so he can Die Another Day. We may have vision of success and increase but somehow we must first let it die for now so that we can increase later and Die Another Day. A grain of wheat has a vision of reproducing itself and many more grains. The grain dies in the ground but a harvest of much grain comes out of the very process of death in the ground.

In the kingdom of God, every significant thing God births He allows to die before the vision is fulfilled in His own way. Abraham had a vision of being the father of a great nation, but Sarah was barren and too old to have children. After waiting 25 years, God gave Abraham and Sarah a son Isaac when Sarah was 90 and Abraham finally became the father of a great nation. Joseph had a vision that he would be a leader and many would bow down to him but Joseph’s brothers were jealous and sold him as a slave. Later he was falsely accused by Potiphar’s wife and was sent to rot in prison but God allowed Joseph to interpret the dreams of the butler, baker and later Pharaoh where he was promoted to the Prince of Egypt.

Moses had a vision of leading the children of Israel out of Egypt but Pharaoh as well as his own people drove him out to the desert after Moses’ first attempt by killing an Egyptian. After 40 years, God showed up in the burning bush and gave Moses signs and wonders to convince Pharaoh to free the people and bring them out of Egypt and into the Promised Land. The disciples of Jesus had a vision of establishing the Kingdom of God, but the very ones He came to save crucified Jesus, and He was buried in a borrowed tomb. On the third day, God raised Jesus from the dead, and the disciples performed great miracles until the gospel had spread through all the world and it still is being preached today.

If God has given you a vision that is yet to be fulfilled, then He will manifest it in His own way. Do not try to make it happen in your own strength. Like Abraham who fathered Ishmael before Isaac that now led to the hatred between Arabs and Jews, it will only fail miserably. Let it die first, then wait patiently for God to fulfill the vision in His time and in His way. Then you'll know that it was God’s plan all along when He fulfills it in the miraculous way that only He can do. Enjoy life, tap into the abundant life that God has given you as revealed by His Word through the shed Blood of Jesus, live and let live, because you can always Die Another Day.
