Saving Silverman

“[God] will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver; He will purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver. That they may offer to the LORD an offering in righteousness. Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasant to the LORD, as in the days of old, as in former years.” (Malachi 3:3-4)

In the 2001 teen comedy Saving Silverman starring Jason Biggs, two dimwits plot to rescue their friend Silverman from a heartless girlfriend. God too has a specific plan for saving us and is preparing us for power and glory in these last days. God desires to turn His children from rolling stones into precious metals of gold and silver. God also will restore our wealth that has been Enroned by decades of inflation, recession, depression, debt, deficit spending and taxation by cancelling our debts and putting money back on the gold standard where currencies are backed by gold, silver and platinum.

The refiner’s fire can only accomplish its purposes when the heat is on, when it is increased to extremely high temperatures. It breaks down the metal to make it moldable and shapeable. Only at high temperatures can the impurities be removed and God’s work accomplished. So it is in the trials and tribulations of our lives as we sing “Come on baby, light my fire!”

Until God completes His refining process, the offerings we make are not made in righteousness and are not acceptable. Fortunately Jesus is our righteousness and there is no righteousness apart from Him. God continues to purge the flesh and all that is not of His righteousness out of our lives. This comes through trials that bring each of us to the end of ourselves in order that God may only reflect the glory which is His.

When God takes us through the refiner's fire, we should be thankful because He wants to turn us from rough stones into silver and gold. God is the ultimate silver refiner and gold purifier, He owns all the silver and all the gold, and He will be Saving Silverman through events in our business, family, health, relationships, and other circumstances of life. One Fine Day, we'll be so refined that we are more fine than George Clooney. After much testing, we all can be Silverman or Goldman. Our duty is to burn, baby, burn and avoid blowing out the fire so that we can be perfected in God's image and be as good as gold.
