FearLet us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments [obey His Word], for this is mans all. (Ecclesiastes 12:13). In the 1996 movie Fear starring Mark Wahlberg and Reese Witherspoon, a man goes ballistic when his 16 year old girlfriend tries to break up with him. TV producers may want us to watch Fear Factor, and Harrison Ford may want us to add up The Sum of All Fears, but God through His Word tells us that we should have no fear of anybody, but instead we all must have the fear of God by obeying His Word. The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD shall be safe. (Proverbs 29:25). Jesus warned us: do
not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather
fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew
10:28). We should not fear that loser the devil either, for we are to
submit ourselves to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from us
with his tails between his legs in fear. (James 4:7). We are to be strong,
put on the whole armor of God and resist because greater is God that
is in us, than the devil that is in the world. (Ephesians 6:11 and 1
John 4:4). We must praise, worship, glorify and rejoice with the fear
of God. Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
(Psalm 2:11). You who fear the LORD, praise Him! All you descendants
of Jacob, glorify Him, and fear Him, all you offspring of Israel!
