The Four Seasons

“[God] changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings, and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise, and knowledge to those who have understanding [of His Word].” (Daniel 2:21)

In the Alan Alda 1981 comedy The Four Seasons, three wealthy midde-aged couples vacation together in each of the four seasons. But the truth is we don’t need Alan Alda, Vivaldi or a luxury hotel chain to experience the four seasons for God is the maker of all the seasons. We are have an unchangeable God who changes the times and the seasons.

God changed the bitter waters of Marah into sweet drinkable Perrier. For three days the children of Israel did not find any water. When they come to Marah they found the waters bitter, so they cried and murmured against Moses. God showed Moses a tree, and he cast it into the waters, and the waters were made sweet. God manifested Himself as Yahweh Rapha, the LORD that heals. After the bitterness at Marah the Israelites found twelve wells of water and seventy palm trees in Elim. (Exodus 15:25-26)

No matter what dry season we may be facing, God is able to lead us to the waters of abundance if we keep the faith in His Word for David said “He grants the barren woman a home, like a joyful mother of children.” (Psalm 113:9) “Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but Thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.” (Psalm 66:12 KJV)

We can enjoy The Four Seasons because our God is able to change the evil deeds of men for our good like He did for Joseph. (Genesis 50:20) The devil, Dr Evil and Mini Me may have wicked plans for our lives to make us sick, broke, depressed, addicted and oppressed, but God is saying that He will turn them around and do good for us as He had done in the life of Joseph. “He sent a man before them – Joseph – who was sold as a slave. They hurt his feet with fetters. He was laid in irons. Until the time that his word came to pass, the word of the LORD tested him.” (Psalm 105:17-19)

The Word of God will test us, but if we daily meditate on His Word and DO the Word our lives will be promoted like Joseph from the prison to the palace with all our miseries Gone In Sixty Seconds. God is no respecter of persons, He turned the captivity of Jacob and He can turn our sorrows into joy unspeakable and full of glory. “Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When God brings back the captivity of His people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad.” (Psalm 53:6) “You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness.” (Psalm 30:11) “You will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.” (John 16:20)
