Praise Me If You Can

“Praise the LORD! Praise, O servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD! Blessed be the name of the LORD. From this time forth and forevermore! From the rising of the sun to its going down the LORD's name is to be praised.” (Psalm 113:1-3)

In the Steven Spielberg movie Catch Me If You Can, Leonardo DiCaprio plays a real life teen-age con man who not only posed as an airline pilot, lawyer and doctor but also stole millions of dollars back in the 1960s. While Hollywood glamorizes the mafia, crooks and criminals, God wants us to Praise Him If We Can because He can always catches us. We are commanded to praise God in the morning, at lunch time and at at night.

If you’ve never praised God before, then do it now. Praise Him for peace and love, prosperity and freedom. Praise Him for debt cancellation, healing, restoration, deliverance and salvation. Praise Him for the Word of God, the Holy Spirit, the precious Blood of Jesus and the powerful Name of Jesus. Praise Him for this ministry that is feeding you daily with the meat of the Word so you can be edified and be a spiritual giant.

If there’s anything the devil can’t stand, it’s praise. When was the last time you praised God? God longs to hear your praises because He loves you passionately and yearns for you to love Him back. Sometimes you’ll experience blessings that will motivate you to praise God but even in tough times, God still wants you to praise Him, because He is always with you and He is worthy of your endless praise for His great holiness, kindness and goodness.

God deserves our praises for He loves us consistently and abundantly, and derives great pleasure from the praises of people who love Him. Praise gives us the spiritual strength to fight against evil. Praise is very powerful against the devil because it makes him flee in terror. We’re not as vulnerable to evil influences of the world when we’re in communion with God and praising Him all the time. Praise brings peace and wholeness, because it keeps our minds on God and off the circumstances of life. Rather than focusing on the problem, we focus on our heavenly Father who has all the answers. Praise reveals the depth of God’s love for us and makes us humble as we consider all that God has done for us.

God is more concerned about whether we spend time with Him building an intimate relationship than He is about what we’re doing to serve Him. God wants us to make praise a priority, because it builds our relationship with Him. No matter what our circumstances are, we have the power to choose to respond positively or negatively. If we respond with praise, we invite God to transform us as He inhabits our praises, and He will bless us exceedingly abundantly above what we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).
