Stir CrazyTherefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind [a beautiful mind that is renewed by the Word of God]. (2 Timothy 1:6-7) In the 1980 comedy Stir Crazy directed by Sidney Poitier, Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor were two jailbirds framed for bank robbery who just wanted to get out of the cage of a western prison. James Bond may want his martini shaken, not stirred, but God has called each of us to stir up the gift of God which is inside us. Yes, the Word of God commands us to stir ourselves up because everything we need is already inside us. God placed it there through the Holy Spirit and the Blood of Jesus. There may be times when we know what God has called us to do, but we just dont feel that we have the energy, the wisdom, or the resources to do it. Chances are, our wells have run dry because we have neglected to spend quality time in the Word of God because if we did, the Word says that rivers of living water shall flow out of our hearts (John 7:38), but this won't happen if we are not constantly renewing our minds with the water of the Word. The good news is everything well ever need to accomplish what God has called us to do has been placed inside us by God Almighty Himself. Faith, hope, love, power and the wisdom of A Beautiful Mind are all in there. Believe it, speak it and say it out loud: In the Name of Jesus, I will not fear but I will stir up the gift of God that is inside me. I am stirring up my faith as I spend time in the Word of God for faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17). I will not wait until I am shaken or I feel stirred up. I am stepping out by faith expecting my feelings to follow and the circumstances of life to submit to the finality of the Word of God. I am stirring up the love of God that is in me and I will walk in love as I love God and love my neighbors as myself. I am stirring up the wisdom of God that is hidden in the Word of God just for me. I am stirring up Christ in me, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27). I am stirring up the comfort, guidance and power of the Holy Spirit. I am stirring myself crazy and washing the devil right out of my hair. I am stirring myself up in the Spirit of the living God. I am all stirred up, praise God!Copyright © 2002 Eddy Ministries.
