The Hours“But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and clay and some for honor and some for dishonor.” (2 Timothy 2:20) The Hours is a 2002 Oscar-contending movie about the lives of three women in three eras who were influenced by the work of novelist Virginia Woolf starring Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore and Meryl Streep. While Hollywood is busy jockeying for that golden idol the Oscar, these are the hours that God is about to unleash His power and His glory on His remnant, His chosen golden vessels of honor. God is doing some exciting things on earth, working signs and wonders in preparation for Jesus’ triumphant second coming as King of kings and Lord of lords. This is a time with more Thriller than Michael Jackson, but it is definitely no time for us to be clay pots. So if you haven’t made the commitment to be a golden vessel of honor set part for God’s use, be like Nike and Just Do It. Confess your sins and repent before God, rededicate your life to Him, study His Word day and night to know Him intimately, DO what the Word says to do and get your will in line with His will. Let the ministry of the Holy Spirit comfort, guide and empower you until you’re able to leave the world behind and walk in the higher ways of God on the Highway to Heaven. In the kingdom of God, there will be golden vessels of honor and there will be clay pots, but we are the ones who determine which we will be for 2 Timothy 2:21 tells us that “...anyone cleanses himself [from contamination and corruption] will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.” Golden vessel or clay pot, the choice is entirely up to us, not God. Unfortunately so many believers choose to do little or no work for the kingdom of God and remain clay pots. They lack one thing every golden vessel must have, dedication to the Word of God. They haven’t separated themselves from corrupting influences nor turned away from the ways of the world and walk with God past the point of no return. The Hours are late, but we can still do it. Cuba Gooding Jr and Robert DeNiro could only be Men of Honor, but God has called us to be vessels of honor. The glory of God will be filling the earth as the waters cover the sea (Habakkuk 2:14), but it won’t be trickling out of clay pots.
