Undercover Brother“The LORD your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” (Zephaniah 3:17) In the 2002 comedy Undercover Brother, Eddie Griffin traded in his signature Afro as he and his team of black secret agents were called to protect a black presidential candidate. The good news is we don’t have to have an Afro or live in the hood to be undercover brothers because we are under the cover of God’s joy and protection where God rejoices over us with gladness. In Hebrew that means with laughter, mirth, and joy. Unlike Laurence Fishburne in Deep Cover, we live under the cover of joy because God lives over us, rejoicing and our covering is a powerful and joyful God. When we walk with God as we obey His Word, we are not walking in darkness but in the light. We need not live in strife, lack, or fear because we are surrounded by God’s love and joy. When we go to Him in prayer, we don’t have to struggle to get into His presence because He’s already there. All we need to do is just enjoy God and say, “Father, I’m glad You got me covered.” LL Cool J can only Deliver Us From Eva but God comforts us with His love when we’re afflicted, and He rejoices over us with singing. The Hebrew word for rejoice here is a powerful word, for it means to spin enthusiastically. And the word sing literally means to shout, that is, God is doing handstands, flips, somersaults, cartwheels and shouting to the angels, “See how they obey My Word! Rejoice with Me for My joy is their strength!” That’s the covering of joy we live under and Nehemiah 8:10 says that the joy of the LORD is our strength. God is leading us, opening the right doors and closing the wrong ones, and evicting the enemy so we can possess our Promised Land flowing with milk and honey. God is faithful, and there is no reason to feel depressed, inferior or rejected, and no reason to fear, doubt, or worry. Ice Cube may tell us that it's All About The Benjamins, but as long as we are covered and surrounded by God’s love and live by the Word of God, we've got everything, including many priceless things that no Master Card can buy.Copyright © 2002 Eddy Ministries.
