CrossroadsThus says the LORD: Stand in the ways [or crossroads] and see, and ask for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; then you will find rest for your souls. (Jeremiah 6:16) In the 2002 Britney Spears movie Crossroads, three girls who are best friends and a guy they just met take a road trip across America. In the crossroads of life, we need to follow God and not Britney Spears if we want to prosper and find rest for our souls. We teach our children to stop and look both ways before they cross the street. We make sure it is safe for them to cross, so that if a car is coming, they can be safe on the side of the street. We tell our children to cross at the crosswalk and not jaywalk in the middle of the block. We give our children instructions and expect them to follow. We do this because we love them and want them to be safe. Now as adults, many of us are trippin
because we fail to walk in the path of God. Some of us got even more
trips from drugs than from the Word of God. We can find all of this
by seeking Gods will as we meditate on the Word of God daily and
searching for direction. Every path we take has instructions for us
to follow, and those instructions are clearly written in the Word of
God without any reservations and none of the guilt trips. God our heavenly Father directs our path daily, but too often we turn a deaf ear to His leading. We drift, we fall and we even get lost because we want to Go Our Own Way like Fleetwood Mac even when it leads to nothing but cul-de-sacs, U-turns, deadends, pain and disappointment. Pride is what tells us we can do it all by ourselves, but it would be so much easier if we get it right the first time by following Gods Word. We should know that we never have to cross the street and learn the hard way each time. As we go on making decisions on the road of life, remember not just to look both ways, but also look up and let the Word of God and the prompting of the Holy Spirit direct our paths.Copyright © 2002 Eddy Ministries.
