Good Mourning America

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” (Matthew 5:4)

For many years Good Morning America on the ABC network ruled the early morning hour as people wake up and get ready for work. God, however, wants us to mourn for everybody by praying for them, not just America. He wants us to mourn for others not just in the morning, but at all times. In Matthew 5, Jesus was talking about the mourning of the intercessor. He was teaching about the comfort that comes when the intercessor is assured by the Holy Spirit that he has prayed through, that he has overcame the barriers that have impeded the work of God in the lives of others.

It means using our spiritual armor backed by the Word of God to defeat the forces of darkness so they can receive the gift of salvation. There’s a great need for intercessors who’ll go before God and claim His deliverance, mercy and compassion for the sinner, the blind, the proud, the sick, the poor, the oppressed, America, and the world. There’s a desperate need for prayer warriors who will not relent until they have the assurance in their spirits that every barrier is broken and every bondage has been destroyed so that God will get all the glory.

Today God is looking for intercessors who will mourn and pray for others, because there are powerful blessings and supernatural moves of God that won’t manifest until someone initiates those things by prayer. Even Jesus Himself was brought to earth by intercession. In Luke 2:25-38, Simeon and Anna were both intercessors and prayer warriors of God. They had spent years in spiritual mourning, and they experienced the comfort of the Holy Spirit for when they saw Jesus as a child in the temple, they recognized Him as the Messiah that they prayed for and rejoiced.

We are the generation who has been called to intercession for God is calling believers to experience the kind of mourning and comfort that belong to the intercessor. God is calling you to lay down your life for others not by dying for them, but by praying for them in the mighty Name of Jesus. Somewhere, someone needs you to intercede for them, bind evil spirits that possess them and loose salvation and the angels of God for them (Matthew 18:18), agree with them (Matthew 18:19), and pray them through. Spend some time standing not in front of The Gap at the mall but standing in the gap in prayer for others and reach out and touch someone.
