Holy Man“He who has My commandments and keeps them [obeys the Word of God], it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” (John 14:21) In the 1998 comedy Holy Man, Eddie Murphy is an over-the-top evangelist who turns home TV shopping into a religious experience and takes America by storm. We don’t have to be Eddie Murphy or some spiritual guru to be holy, because holiness is a dimension we can only experience when we please God in every activity of our life. In that higher dimension, God becomes real and manifests Himself to us in all His power and glory. In 1906, God poured out His Holy Spirit and started a revival on Azusa Street in Los Angeles where people’s lives were turned upside down and inside out. Everything else in their world paled by comparision. Supernatural things were happening because God was manifesting Himself in their presence. Those believers were known to the world as holy people because they were so different. They would let go of anything they thought didn’t please God, and they were so caught up in the spiritual that they lost interest in the natural. Today, very few believers know what holiness means, and even fewer understand the outpouring of God only comes to those who dare to step into it. Holiness simply means set apart and separated unto God to fulfill His purpose. Holiness is conducting our lives according to the Word of God and the prompting of the Holy Spirit. Holiness is habitually being of one mind with God, of turning away from the world, the flesh and the devil, and living in agreement with His Word. We can't dress holy or look holy any more than a bath, a bar of soap, and a ribbon will make a pig into a poodle. Holiness doesn’t happen to anyone by accident because it requires a decision of the will. As we love God with all our heart by keeping His commandments and meditating on His Word day and night, He’ll show His love by manifesting Himself to us in powerful ways. God will pour His glory on us with an even greater anointing than He did at Azusa and restoration will truly begin in our family, our community, our church, and our nation.Copyright © 2003 Eddy Ministries.
