The Ambassador

“Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us.” (2 Corinthians 5:20)

In Rock Hudson’s last movie The Ambassador in 1984, Robert Mitchum is the American ambassador to Israel who tries to make peace in the Middle East while his wife is having an affair with a top PLO leader. We may not have diplomatic passports but the Bible says that we are ambassadors for Christ. Thats’ right, when we made Jesus Christ the Lord of our lives, we have been sent to act as His representatives in the world. Just as nations send ambassadors to represent their interests in other countries, we’ve been sent here to look after the interests of the kingdom of God.

We are representing the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords wherever we go. That’s a very high honor and a very tall order, but God has equipped us to do it. God has given us the Name and the Blood of Jesus and the power of His Word. Our PCs may have Intel inside, but God has wired His Holy Spirit inside us, and given us the ability to hear and obey the directions of that Spirit. There was a prophecy that said there would be a time when people would walk, talk and act like God. They’d be motivated by His power and Spirit so strongly that people would think they’re God.

But the Holy Spirit would tell us, “They’re not God at all. They’re children of God, agents of God, ambassadors of God, sent to do the works of God on earth.” We’re now living in the day of that prophecy and this is no time to be too clever by half, half-consecrated, half-hearted, half-baked and half-dedicated. This is the time to go all out with God, to give Him your whole life - body, soul, spirit, relationships and finances. If you’ll do that, God will bless you with such anointing, power, glory and such goodness and mercy that you’ll shine for Him not like Jack Nicholson in The Shining, but as lights in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation.(Philippians 2:15)

Eminem may want you to Lose Yourself after taking you for a ride 8 Mile, but God wants you to see yourself not as Ordinary People like Timothy Hutton but as a powerful ambassador with more clout than The American President. Let God’s kingdom be first and foremost in your heart, submit yourself to the Word of God and say, “Lord, empower me with diplomatic immunity as You deliver me from evil to be Your ambassador on earth in ALL that I do. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
