Living Out LoudThe fool has said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none who does good. (Psalm 14:1) In the 1998 movie Living Out Loud, Holly Hunter is a divorced woman who befriends Danny DeVito the janitor and elevator attendant in her luxury New York apartment. We may not be divorced in New York, but as believers we need to live our lives out loud for God. While it may be true that with our mouths we would never say something like there is no God, but we say it out loud every day with our actions. We say it by sinning just a little here and there and thinking it wont matter. We say it when we dont even take the time to read these daily devotional emails or even get angry at the messenger and unsubscribe. We say it when we go to see an immoral movie saturated with gratuitous sex, profanities, witchcraft, homosexuality, and violence. We say it when we go drinking at a strip club and watch The Full Monty with the boys or the girls. We say it when know more about Tony Soprano, sports, cars, and the latest fashion trend than the Bible. We say it out loud when we ignore Gods command about witnessing, giving, forgiving others, studying Gods Word, tithing and offering so the gospel of salvation can be preached and the lost get saved. Many of us are so busy with the mundane and the insane that with our actions and busyness we are saying, There is no God, or I dont have time for all this God stuff. Imagine how God feels when we desert Him like that by working overtime at the office to make more money so we can buy or lease things we don’t even need with money we don’t even have to impress people we don’t even like. We then get so stressed out because we don’t have the peace of God that we even hit the dog or need counseling from Jack Nicholson about Anger Management. The Bible in Psalm 14:1 connects that kind of behavior to corruption. Whether we realize it or not, the more we act that way, the more corrupt and foolish we’ll become. The Word of God tells us that we live in the world but do not be like the world. We are to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth as we live out loud. (Matthew 5:13-14) Don’t make the foolish mistake of publicly confessing Jesus as Lord and Saviour, and then privately denying Him with one sinful action at a time. Meditate on the Word of God daily, obey it and use its wisdom in everything we do so that we don’t just live for God, but we live it out loud.Copyright © 2003 Eddy Ministries. All rights reserved.
