SARSFor all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) Lately we all have heard and seen images of people wearing masks in Asia to protect themselves from Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome or SARS. In Taiwan, people were even using bra cups because there were no more masks. Some of us even search for travel bargains in Asia, begin making and selling designer masks, and find Asian people worth dating now that the masks make them look even more mysterious as they save face. Whether we have Asian persuasion or not, we and all of humanity have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, we all have spiritual SARS where SARS stands for Sins Against Righteousness Syndrome. SARS is not a disease that we have inherited, its a disease that we have contracted due to wrong choices that we have made. It is also a disease that is 100%, absolutely, and eternally fatal for the wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23) Looking at the list of identifying symptoms in the Bible, we find that indeed we have every one of them. We realize and accept the fact that we have the fatal disease and cant wait for the news of an available cure. Until we realized that we had the disease, the cure did not mean much to us and in fact, the news of its availability at any price sounded foolish to us until we recognized that we, and especially our loved ones who are not saved yet and still living in sin, urgently needed it. But there is good news for us because there is a divine cure and it is available to all. The good news is so good that we all should proclaim the gospel of salvation to friends and family by any means possible beginning with these daily email devotionals. It cost Jesus His life in order to obtain the cure, but He gave His life because He loves us. The cure for SARS is found in the precious Blood without sin that Jesus carried in His body and shed for us in His death. Jesus the Son of God died on the cross, taking upon Himself the ultimate penalty for all of our sins past, present and future, so that we may not just be healed but also made whole. The cure is available to those who will place their faith in Jesus (Hebrews 11:6), repent of sin (2 Corinthians 7:9-10), confess Jesus as Lord and Saviour before men (Romans 10:9-10), be baptized for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38), and continue to live under the long term care of Jesus the Great Physician by obeying His Word. SARS is fatal, and until a person understands and accepts the reality that he or she is terminally ill, the cure has absolutely no value. The gospel or literally the good news of Jesus Christ is only good news to those who recognize their sinful condition and who gratefully accept the cure of salvation provided by God through Jesus as set out in His Word.Copyright © 2003 Eddy Ministries.
