Pearl HarborMy brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. (James 1:2-4) The 2001 movie Pearl Harbor starring Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett is about two best friends and their love lives as they go off to join the second World War in the Pacific after the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor in December 7, 1941. Whether we live near Pearl Harbor in Hawaii or not, pearls are precious because they are a product of pain and suffering. When a grain of
sand pierces the shell of an oyster, all the otherwise dormant resources
within the oyster respond to the foreign irritant by caring for that
sensitive spot. Over time, the sand particle is covered by healing fluids,
and the wound becomes a pearl. The story about pearls is also true for
us, and if we can through faith and patience turn the sands of life
that irritate us into strands of pearls, we can live the abundant life
that Jesus died to give us in John 10:10. From
the Greek word soteria, the free gift of salvation that was purchased
by the Blood of Jesus on the cross includes not just deliverance from
sin, death and oppression, but also healing, protection, restoration,
safety, wholeness, security and prosperity. Copyright © 2003 Eddy Ministries. All rights reserved. Subscribe/Unsubscribe: eddyn@earthlink.net
