Driven“When you have crossed the Jordan into the land of Canaan, then you shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, destroy all their engraved stones, destroy all their molded images, and demolish all their high places; you shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land and dwell in it, for I have given you the land to possess.” (Numbers 33:51-53) In the 2001 movie Driven, Sylvester Stallone is a former auto racing champion who gives guidance to a young hotshot driver who is coming apart at the seams in the middle of championship season. Like the movie, we need to be driven to drive out the squatters and take possession of our land. God has given us a Promised Land, a place flowing with milk and honey, where our every need can be met, and then some. A place where we can keep sin underfoot as we rule and reign with Christ. A place where according to Isaiah 54:17, no weapon formed against us will prosper. A place where we are seated with Christ in heavenly places, far above principalities and powers, far from poverty, sickness, death, defeat and oppression of this world. As we study the Word of God, we
won’t Find Nemo, but we’ll find that’s an accurate description
of the kind of victory we should be experiencing not in the sweet by-and-by
in heaven somewhere, but in the here and now. After Adam sinned in the
Garden of Eden and forfeited his dominion on earth, the devil is still
here, and he’s not just going to pack up and go home just because
