TithingThat you shall take some of the FIRST of all the produce of the ground, which you shall bring from your land that the LORD your God is giving you, and put in in a basket and go to the place where the LORD your God chooses to make His name abide. (Deuteronomy or Devarim 26:2) How do you spell tithing Whats that Isnt that Old Testament stuff? But I already gave to the poor and pray a lot. I am a good person and am going to heaven anyway. I gross $3000 a month and I gave $200 per month to my church, isnt that enough What about my bills? Do I really have to give 10%? Most believers and many preachers arent too excited about the Word of God when it comes to what they think is THEIR money. But they should be and they would be if they understood the blessings of tithing and learn how to do it properly. Biblical tithing is an act of obedience for God does not need our money. God owns it all for He is the Creator but He needs our obedience to part with the FIRST fruit, the tithe, that are His. He wants not only 10%, but the FIRST 10% that comes in to acknowledge that He is FIRST in your life. Anything above the tithe is called an offering, so if you have not tithed, you are in no position to make an offering. Tithing stirs up faith and activates the power of God in our lives when we do it in thankfulness and joy, expecting our needs to be met abundantly for by tithing we humbly acknowledge that it is God who gives us the power to get wealth so that He can establish His covenant with Abraham, that is, to bless all the families of the earth with the gospel of salvation. (Deuteronomy 8:18) In Deuteronomy 26:8-10, God told the Israelites what to say when they brought their tithes. He instructed them to acknowledge the fact that He had brought them out of the bondage of Egypt and to say: So the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and with an outstretched arm, and with great terror, and with signs and wonders; He has brought us to this place and has given us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey. And now, behold, I have brought the FIRSTfruits of the land which you, O LORD, have given me. The good news is God has done the very same thing for us! He has brought us out of a life of bondage, sickness, sin, death, fear, oppression and poverty into an eternal zoe life that flows with the abundance, wholeness [shalom], goodness [chesed] and prosperity of God. So when you bring your tithe to God via your church or a ministry that feeds you spiritually with the Word of God, follow the example set by the Israelites. Make it a time of rejoicing and a time of realizing the wonderful things Jesus the Messiah has done for you. Thank Him for delivering you from a land of sickness and lack and bringing you into His promised land of supernatural abundance. Thank Him that it is a land of mercy, a land of joy, a land of shalom or wholeness, a land of blessings, a land of more than enough and a land of prosperity. Tithe in faith and give offerings above the tithe so that the windows of heaven will start pouring down blessings over you in Malachi 3:10-12. You will find it to be one of the most exciting things you can do as you can not outgive God, the biggest Giver of all. And as I can attest, as you tithe and then the more you sow, the more you will reap. By withholding Gods tithe through whatever excuses you can dream up, you are just shutting the windows of heaven and God is forced to honor His Word and He simply cant bless you for being disobedient. When you dont
tithe, you are only hurting yourself for God will not rebuke the devourer
and the devil will have a free hand in all of your affairs like he did
with Job. God is only moved by your faith and your obedience to His
Word, not excuses for not doing them, no matter how Biblical. Copyright © 2002 Eddy Ministries. All rights reserved. Subscribe/Unsubscribe:
