Mission Impossible

“And not being weak in faith, [Abraham] did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. He did not wavered at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what [God] had promised He was also able to perform” (Romans 4:19-21).

The secret of living by faith, of receiving from God in the toughest of situations is drawing a line of faith in the sand. A faith line is what you need when you want God to do the mission impossible in your life. It’s what you need when you want to be firm in your faith and yet keep wavering back and forth between your circumstances and God’s promises in His Word.

That line of faith can make you like our faithful patriarch Abraham. Abraham knew there was no natural way for God’s promise to him to come true, for him to father a child at such an old age and with a barren wife. Yet the Word of God says Abraham considered not his own body nor Sarah’s. In other words, Abraham ignored the natural evidence around him and believed only on God’s SUPERnatural promise. He made an irreversible decision to go strictly with the Word of God. He made a final commitment and stepped past the point of no return. And if we are ever going to see God do the impossible in our lives, we must do likewise.

How do you embark on that impossible mission? Begin with the Word of God. Search the promises of God and purposely believe what He has said, and is saying, about your need. Meditate on those promises until faith rises in your heart. Then consult with other members of the Impossible Mission Force, stronger believers and spiritual leaders who will edify, assist and support you on the mission. Speak the Word and command the elite forces of the angels from heaven whose mission is to minister and protect you as the heirs of salvation (Psalm 103:20).

Then draw a line of faith in the sand like the senior Bush did with Desert Storm. Draw it in your mind and heart. Draw it across the floor in the bedroom. Speak boldly, “In the presence of God and of all the angels of heaven, and in the devils face, I am stepping across the line of faith. From now on, I consider this matter done. I call those things that are not as though they were (Romans 4:17). I believe; I receive it now. The more impossible it appears, the more I believe. From this day forward, I give God all the praise and all the glory in the mighty Name of Jesus.”

From that moment on, speak only as if your miracle has already happened. Turn your back on the problems, the doubts, the sickness, the debt, the poverty, the oppression and turn your face toward God and seek His face. God, not Peter Graves nor Tom Cruise, will do the mission impossible in your life for you, nothing will self-destruct, you will not be captured or killed, there will be no collateral damage, and He will not disavow of your existence.
