Terminator 2 : Judgment Day

“Therefore thus says the LORD God of Israel: ‘Behold, I am bringing such calamity upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whoever hears of it, both his ears will tingle. And I will stretch over Jerusalem the measuring line of Samaria and the plummet [plumb line]of the house of Ahab; I will wipe Jerusalem as one wipes a dish, wiping it and turning it upside down.’” (2 Kings 21:12-13)

In the 1991 summer sequel Terminator 2 : Judgment Day, Arnold the T-800 terminator is back in T2 to save the world from machine domination by battling the liquid metal T-1000. Twelve years later, he’s back in T3 as the improved T-800 fighting the terminatrix T-X to prevent the rise of the machines. Reese Witherspoon may be Legally Blonde, but this mean killing machine T-X is lethally blonde. Interestingly, God foresaw the terminator series and He has a story for us about the judgment day of T2 in the book of Second Kings.

Josiah was a godly king in Israel, but before he came to power, the nation had been spinning around the axis of evil. Long before Dr Evil found his Mini Me, the previous king Manasseh had brought the nation of Israel to a state of inexorable evil. Like Jennifer Lopez in the movie, God finally had Enough. Josiah came into power just before T2 was released for judgment day. He began to clean up the evil by burning all the temples, removing prostitution, fornication and homosexuality, and destroying occultic shrines and high places. Josiah did this without the benefit of even reading God’s Word, but through the Holy Spirit working in his heart. One day the ancient Torah, the five books of Moses, were discovered in the temple that had been dormant and unread for years, and they had a profound spiritual impact on King Josiah.

“When the king heard the words of the Law, that he tore his clothes. Then the king commanded Hilkiah, Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Abdon the son of Micah, Shaphan the scribe and Asaiah a servant of the king, saying, ‘Go, inquire of the LORD for me, and for those who are left in Israel and Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found; for great is the wrath of the LORD that is poured out on us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the LORD, to do according to all that is written in this book.’” (2 Chronicles 34:19-21).

Josiah was a broken man. He tore his royal robes in repentance, fell to his knees and repented for the sins of his nation, and stood in the gap for his people and God honored Josiah, but it wasn’t enough. Because of the universal law of sowing and reaping, God still had to judge the nation for the evil committed under the reign of Manasseh. (2 Chronicles 34:27-28) God spared Josiah during his reign, but after he died judgment day came upon the nation.

No nation, especially America, is immune from God’s judgment day. Pray for America and every nation to have godly leaders, and pray that our nation will have a repentant heart among the business, media, military, political and spiritual leaders and among the people of all races so we won’t have to see God wiping us out when He sends the totally invincible terminator T-G.
