The Messenger

“Surely the LORD God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.” (Amos 3:7)

In the 1999 movie The Messenger, Milla Jovovich is the young French teenager Joan of Arc who receives a heavenly vision that drives her with evangelical zeal to rid France of its oppressors. Joan of Arc may have been the heroic messenger who saved France who was later burned at the stake, but God still uses His messengers or prophets today to reveal His plans in the lives of His people, especially in these end times.

God sends out His messengers to inform His children what is ahead for them, to warn them of The Terminator who will bring Judgment Day if they continue to sin, to tell them to get off the Road to Perdition if they want to be legally blessed, loaded daily with benefits, and reloaded. God does this because He knows the event will require such radical changes in that person’s life and He wants to assure them of His love, protection, blessing and favor. After 430 years of slavery, God came to Moses at the burning bush in the Midian desert to reveal His purposes for the children of Israel and His call on Moses to deliver them from Egypt and take them to the Promised Land.

Long before Mark Wahlberg and Michael Caine read the script for The Italian Job, God had the Roman centurion Cornelius who commanded the Italian Regiment come to Peter to let him know God had called him to preach to the Gentiles in Acts 10. Elisha had a servant who could not see or hear with spiritual eyes and ears until Elisha prayed they would be opened. Then the servant could see the great heavenly army of God full of horses and chariots of fire protecting them in 2 Kings 6:17.

Chances are, God has already placed a messenger in your life to speak His plans for you, your family, your business, and your lifestyle. But the question is are your spiritual eyes and ears sensitive so that you will know who that messenger of God is and if so, will you reverence him and heed his word? As you meditate on the Word of God daily, pray for wisdom and discernment that you might see and hear with the Holy Spirit. God has more secrets to reveal than Victoria, and more often than not, it is His will to reveal His purposes and plans for your life through someone else called the messenger.
