CocoonAnd Moses said to the people, Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace. (Exodus 14:13-14) In the 1985 Ron Howard movie Cocoon, a group of trespassing seniors swim in a pool containing alien cocoons and found themselves energized with youthful vigor. While the movie is about alien cocoons, the butterfly variety holds a deep lesson for all of us. The caterpillar that lies inside the cocoon will never become the beautiful Madame Butterfly if we open the cocoon prematurely because it is the struggle to exit the cocoon itself that strengthens the wings and allows the butterfly to emerge as a strong, new creature of nature. God understands how necessary this
is, and thats why we are allowed to experience painful, disruptive,
and often life-changing events. God even sets them up like He did when
He hardened Pharaoh's heart to chase after the Israelites. (Exodus 14:4)
What the children of Israel thought was Cruel Intentions when Pharaoh
sent all the chariots of Egypt to pursue them after they had been freed
and cornered against the Red Sea became the stage for the most incredible
miracle of all time, the parting of the Red Sea. Copyright © 2003 Eddy Ministries. All rights reserved. Subscribe/Unsubscribe: eddyn@earthlink.net
