Guided MissileDavid fastened his sword to his armor and tried to walk, for he has not tested them. And David said to Saul, “I cannot walk with these, for I have not tested them.” So David took them off. (1 Samuel 17:39) The young shepherd David heard the challenge from the Philistines to fight their champion Goliath from Gath. No one volunteered to fight the nine and a half feet giant because of fear, except David. King Saul reluctantly agreed and offered David his armor. David put on the heavy and bulky equipment, but decided he could not fight in this armor. God equips each of us in such a way that is unique to our strengths and abilities. David was trained as a shepherd to use another, more powerful weapon, the sling and five smooth stones. David had so much confidence he grabbed not just one but five stones, five for the five cities and the five champions of the Philistine Pentapolis. Only one stone was used to hit Goliath directly on the forehead. This is the first example of a heat-seeking missile guided by the hand of God. David showed great maturity in realizing he could not be mobile with Saul’s armor. Spiritually, the armor of Saul represented the old anointing, the old way of doing things, the old paradigm. What are the treasures and talents God has given to you? Have you ever tried to accomplish a task with tools you were not trained to use? God allows each of us to develop skills that are unique to our life. He will not call you to use someone else’s tools. A webmaster cannot do the work of an investment banker, and a writer cannot get a film financed like a studio chief or veteran producer can. However, this is only half of the equation. These talents must be mixed with faith, faith in the Word of God. David had faith in God to deliver him from Goliath just like He did when he killed the lion and the bear. Talent alone is not enough. Faith alone is not enough. It is only when the two are synergistically combined that God’s magnificent power is released and manifested in the physical realm. If you will do your part, God will then do His part, God and YOU make a majority, and you will win every time. Mix your unique gifts with faith in the Word of God today and do it all for the glory of God. You will be surprised at the power of God that will be manifested in your life for these are the end times, the Messiah is coming back soon, billions of souls are lost, blinded or backslidden, the wealth of the wicked are being transferred, and the fields are white ready for harvest.
