S.W.A.T

“Now when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.” (2 Chronicles 20:22)

In the 2003 movie S.W.A.T. based on the 1975-76 TV series about the Special Weapons and Tactics unit of the Los Angeles Police Department, an imprisoned drug kingpin offers $100 million to anyone who can break him out of police custody. We’ve all at times tried to fight life’s battles in our own strength, but the Bible says that the battle belongs to God, not Samuel L Jackson, Colin Farrell, or LL Cool J. When God told Jehoshaphat that he wouldn’t need to fight against a coalition army of three hostile nations, He gave him the most unconventional battle plan there ever was.

2 Chronicles 20:21 says that Jehoshaphat appointed singers to the LORD, and those who praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying, ‘Praise the LORD, for His mercy endures for ever.’ Imagine sending a praise and worship team out against an army who had calvary, swords, spears and all sorts of Lethal Weapons. Imagine the generals of today sending singers and worshippers out to face enemy tanks, planes, missiles, and weapons of mass destruction.

But that’s exactly when the miracle happened. The Bible says "Believe in the LORD your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper." (2 Chronicles 20:20) When they believe God and His prophets and began to sing and to praise, God set ambushes against the enemy and they destroyed one another. (2 Chronicles 20:23) Jehoshaphat’s army didn’t even have to lift a finger or call 911 because his SWAT team of singers and praisers did such a good job of worshipping God. God fought Jehoshaphat’s battle just as He promised. That’s what will happen when you fight your battles God’s way with the special weapons of praise and the tactics of worship and faith in God’s Word.

Whatever situation you’re in right now, raise your hands in praise to God and say this prayer: “Father God, I worship You. In the face of my battles, I praise the beauty of Your holiness and say ‘Praise the LORD, for Your mercy endures forever.’ I believe the promises in Your Word and I thank You that You are defeating my enemies and the angels is my SWAT team. Thank You for the victory that is mine through faith in Jesus Name. Amen.”
