Whats Up Doc?And when He [Jesus] had taken the five loaves and the two fish, He looked up to heaven, blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to His disciples to set before them [the 5000 men]; and the two fish He divided among them all. (Mark 6:41) In the 1972 movie Whats Up Doc?, Ryan ONeal travels to San Francisco with his fiance to compete for a music research grant but runs into Barbra Streisand who brings chaos and havoc everywhere she goes. Long before Bugs Bunny can say What’s Up Doc or play Space Jam with Michael Jordan, Jesus had already lived where we live, and He understood the practical, everyday events and necessities of our lives. In the story of feeding the 5,000 men or roughly 20,000 people including women and children, Jesus knew there was a problem, that all those people were hungry. But providing dinner for a large multitude didnt worry Jesus. It didnt bother Him that these people hadnt eaten all day or that they were miles from town, because He was looking up to God Almighty, not Bruce Almighty, as His infinite Source of supply. When Jesus had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, He didn’t say What’s up or even Whasssssup, but He looked up to heaven, blessed, and broke the loaves and the fish. Jesus didnt look to the crowd, the 12 disciples, the boy who unselfishly gave his lunch, or asked the Bad Boys ’Whatcha Gonna Do?’ He didnt look at the fact that He had 20,000 hungry people and no food. Jesus simply looked up to heaven, and a miracle happened. Mark 6:42 says, So they all ate and were filled. Naturally speaking, we all know that five loaves and two fish are not enough to feed 20,000 people. But when Jesus took the boy’s lunch and looked up to heaven, He stepped out of the natural realm and over into the realm of the miraculous. When we put our eyes on God as our Source of supply and do things the world considers ridiculous, we too will step over into the realm of the miraculous. But we have to do our part and obey God’s Word. As we seek FIRST the kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33) and His will by studying the Word of God day and night, we can get out of our human limitations and over into Gods realm of Mission Impossible. God can increase whatever we offer Him no matter how small, just like He did the five loaves and two fish, and miracles will happen not just on 42nd Street, but on Wall Street, Main Street and over to your street.Copyright © 2003 Eddy Ministries.
