Open Range

“‘You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed Me, even this whole nation. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse [ministries where the meat of the Word of God is taught and preached], that there may be food in My house, and try me now on this’ says the LORD of hosts, ‘If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.’” (Malachi 3:9-10)

In the 2003 Kevin Costner movie Open Range, an ex-gunslinger is forced to take up arms again when he and his cattle crew are threatened by a corrupt lawman. While Kevin Costner is only interested in his cattle and won’t take any bull, God is vitally interested in your finances. He wants to multiply and protect them, but He won’t be able to unless you open the door for Him to do it through tithing. The Israelites were cursed because they robbed God of His tithes and offerings.

But when you obey God’s Word and tithe or give God the FIRST 10% of your gross income, you give God the right to intervene in your affairs, to bless you richly, to give you favor, to load you daily with benefits, and to defend you against the poverty, sickness, and oppression the devil brings. When you tithe, you lay a foundation for divine success and so much abundance that you will have access to the open range of God’s blessings. You establish deposits with God you can draw on when you need them, and you will most definitely will.

The Bible says that it is God who gives us the power to get wealth in Deuteronomy 8:18, so it is God who allows us to close that deal or to make all that money in the first place. By giving back to God the tithe which is holy because it belongs to Him, you give God the chance to bless the remaining 90% and make it go a long way. But don’t wait until your back is against the wall to start tithing. Start developing your faith when things are going well by meditating on the blessing God’s Word promises you as a tither.

Act on that Word now, and when the devil tries to paint you into a corner, he’ll fail. His power over you will have already been broken. Because you’ve established yourself on the covenant of God, the devil will have no chance against you because God Almighty Himself will rebuke the devourer for your sake. If you haven’t opened the door and given God a way to bless your finances, stop waiting. Be like Nike and Just Do It, and do it with ministries that are real storehouses that feed you with the meat of the Word of God. Then, when the pressures of life come, you’ll be prepared and protected by the special privileges of Malachi 3:10-12 that are guaranteed to those who tithe.
