The RecruitFor you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise. (Hebrews 10:36) In the 2003 movie The Recruit, Colin Farrell is a brilliant young CIA trainee who is asked by his mentor Al Pacino to help find a mole in the Agency. God also recruits, but when He calls His servants into service, there is often much trial and tribulation. There are many examples in the Bible where God makes His presence known through circumstances that tax the person to his very soul. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were thrown into the fiery furnace heated seven times hotter than before. Moses was banished to the desert
for 40 years. Jacob was forced to work 7 more years for his beloved
Rachel. Daniel was thrown into the lions den just for praying.
David was forced to flee King Saul for many years and lived as a fugitive,
even hiding in a cave. The Apostle Paul was stricken blind on the Road
to Damascus, and Peter was in despair when he denied Jesus not once,
not twice, but three times after the crucifixion. It may seem strange
to us that God uses such incredible adversity to prepare His servants
for service, but this is Gods way to recruit people. Copyright © 2003 Eddy Ministries. All rights reserved. Subscribe/Unsubscribe: eddyn@earthlink.net
