Choose Life“Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve ... But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD” (Joshua 24:15) Choosing to side with the Word of God and NOT the ways of the world is a major challenge. It’s not just a one time event but a process of choosing to believe and act upon the Word of God over and over in every circumstance, no matter how depressing they may appear. You don’t need to see WHAM wearing a T-shirt in a music video for you to Choose Life. We all need to choose life. Years ago I decided I was going to choose Jesus and the ways of God. Since then I’ve had to choose Him again and again in tempting, compromising situations every day. I’ve chosen Him as my Lord and Savior. I’ve chosen Him as my Healer and Provider. I’ve chosen Him as my Banker and Financier. I’ve chosen Him as CEO of my business and household. I’ve chosen Him as head of my ministry. I’ve chosen Him, not some website, to be my Matchmaker, to find that tithing, giving, Word-loving Proverbs 31 wife with a beautiful mind and tight abs that God has ordained for me from the foundation of the world. With God as my Father and Provider, I expect nothing but the best life has to offer. Sometimes that choice gets tough and the waiting interminable, but God has promised it will never be too tough. 1 Corinthians 10:13 says “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able.” God will not allow you to be subjected to temptations or tests you’re unable to overcome. With every trial or temptation, He’ll make a way of escape, even Escape from Alcatraz. God will ALWAYS make sure you have a choice and unlike Kevin Costner, you won’t face No Way Out. The devil doesn’t come to test you while God forgets to check His email, unaware of what is happening to you. The Spirit of God is constantly there with you, providing you with ways to overcome. God matches even the toughest temptations with the lethal weapons and power you need to conquer them and, with or without Martin Luther King, you shall overcome. God always makes it possible for you to choose life. Choose life over death. You don’t have to be an anti-abortion activist to choose life. Choose to walk in LOVE and walk by faith. Choose to live by the Word of God. Choose the fellowship of God over the fellowship of the ring. Choose the blessings over the curses. Choose God over the flesh, the world and the devil. Choose prosperity over poverty, health over sickness, increase over lack, deliverance over oppression, joy over sadness. Choose fidelity over adultery. Choose the truth of God’s Word over the lies of satan. Choose purity over fornication. Choose the Bible over Harry Potter, Miss Cleo, astrology, New Age, Hollywood or the occult. Choose giving over receiving. Choose forgiveness over bitterness. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. He is the Way to the good life, the power and the glory of God!
