Men of Honor

“But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor, and some for dishonor.” (2 Timothy 2:20)

Are you destined for greatness in the great house or kingdom of God? Most believers will just say they’re not. “We just can’t all be golden or silver vessels. Some of us are just called to be clay pots or wooden utensils, not vessels of honor.” Certainly there will be some golden vessels in the kingdom and some clay pots, but we are the ones, not God, who determine which kind we will be. 2 Timothy 2:21 really says “anyone cleanses himself [from the unclean of the world, who separates himself from contact with contaminating influences], he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work”.

Golden vessel or clay pot, vessel of honor or dishonor, the choice is entirely up to you! You don’t have to be navy master divers like Cuba Gooding Jr or Robert DeNiro to be men of honor. All you have to do is to dive deeply into God and His Word, avoid Harry Potter and the Master Potter will make you His men of honor. Why then do so many believers choose to be mundane in the kingdom of God? Why are they content to remain clay pots and do next to nothing for God’s kingdom? They don’t give, don’t tithe, don’t sow offerings, don’t study the Word, don’t spread the Word or finance those ministries that do. Some ask to unsubscribe from these free emails or even attack this ministry!!

Because they lack one thing every golden vessel must have. They lack dedication. They haven’t made a quality decision to separate themselves from corrupt worldly influences. They haven’t turned away from the world and the flesh and walk on with God past the point of no return. They still have idols, the idols of SELF, ego, pride, family, money, sports, Hollywood, power and pleasure in their lives. Some even worship Billy Idol! God is evidently nowhere near Number One in their lives.

But God is doing some exciting things on earth right now before Jesus the Messiah returns for His glorious Church without spot or wrinkle. He’s working signs and wonders, paving the way for Jesus’ magnificent return. This is a thrilling time, but it’s definitely no time for clay pots! So if you haven’t made the kind of commitment that will turn you into a golden vessel, admit it. Get right with God and make time to study His Word and get your will in line with His will. Let the Holy Spirit deal with you until you’re willing to leave the ways of the world behind and walk on higher ways, the ways of God and the ways of total obedience to His Word. Unlike what U2 or Bono says, you can still walk on and leave it ALL behind.

Do it NOW for these are the end times, the hour is late and U.S. Special Forces are having Georgia on their mind. The glory of God is spilling all over the earth in one giant tidal wave. But it’s not trickling out of clay pots. It’s being poured out through golden vessels, through the men [and women] of honor and that’s exactly what God is calling you to be. The Olympics are over, but you can still go for the gold!
