Great Balls of FireBlessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who sent His Angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him and they have frustrated the kings word, and yielded their bodies, that they should not serve nor worship any god except their own God. (Daniel 3:28) Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were three Hebrews who chose at all cost to obey God. When King Nebuchadnezzar decreed that all were to worship his golden idol, these young men determined they would not worship anything other than God. They did not make this decision at the time of the Kings decree. Their decision had been made years earlier for convictions were already in their hearts. We must realize what our boundaries are in any given situation. What will you tolerate from your federal, state or local government, lender, spouse, competitor or employer? Where are the boundaries for questionable practices in your life? If these are not ironed out in accordance with the wisdom from the Word of God, you will live a life of situational ethics, determining what decision to make based on your carnal mind and the merits of the situation. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were so fired up for God they were willing to die for what they believed. Because of that burning desire to serve God, they were delivered from the fiery furnace, from the great balls of fire that consumed the mighty men who led them there by the fourth Man who is like the Son of God. They did not bow and they did not burn. God used their faithfulness to influence a king, and instead of getting fired, they were promoted to even higher positions in Babylon to reign and rule with Daniel. They were transformed from a roast to a toast, with plenty to boast. The intense heat and the smoke of the fire heated seven times hotter would have consumed Jerry Lewis but were no match for God's cooling and life support system. Are you obedient to the Word of God? Are there situations that can move you based on outcome like money, sex and power? God wants us to stand firm and be obedient to Him and His Word, no matter what the outcome may be. God is looking for a remnant, a few good men [and women] who are radical in their obedience because on the other side is the radical promotion, the blessing and the glory that God has reserved for them. If this does not describe your commitment to Him, then please pray for this kind of conviction right now. In this season of Passover and Resurrection, God will honor you and bless you as you honor Him with your obedience to His Word. Copyright © 2002 Eddy Ministries. All rights reserved.
