HOLLOWAY, Ronald Thomas (129609,
Flying Officer/Bombardier)
b. 1923, Filey d. Monday 7th July 1943 (aged 20)
Another casualty to die on home soil,
Ronald was a member of the R.A.F.V.R. like Billy Harrison. Having grown up in Filey, he enlisted shortly
after he turned eighteen like most other men of his age but after this point
detail of his career become decidedly sketchy.
It is unknown what squadron he belonged to, and all that is known is
that he is buried in Enfield (Lavender Hill) Cemetery presumably having died of
wounds received either during training or whilst on operations.
He was the son of Thomas and Annie
Holloway, of Filey and had recently married Dorothy, another local to Filey.
