George COLLING (24891, Private)

Grew up at 15, Providence
Place with his parents John and Margaret Colling before enlisting in Beverley in 1915 into the 8th
Battalion, East Yorkshire Regt.
After training he was sent to the trenches in Belgium and was killed in action
during the Battle of Arras. Initially,
he was posted M.I.A. on 29th June 1917, but his body was recovered
by advancing troops some time later and laid to rest in a communal grave.
