Thomas Graves JOHNSON (46863, Private)

b. 1899, Filey  d. Wed. 10th April 1918 (aged 19)

 

          Tom was born at 33, The Crescent to Tom and Mary Johnson and lived there for all his life until he was conscripted into the 4th  Battalion, South Staffordshire Regt. after joining in Beverley as soon as he was old enough in 1917.  He was sent to France where he served with them until he was killed in action at the Battle of Lys, towards the end of the 1918 German Spring Offensive.  Again, he did not survive very long in the trenches before his death and he is remembered on the Ploegsteert Memorial like Edward Gash.
