The last member of the Filey men in the infantry to die, Peter had enlisted in Bridlington in 1917 into the 8^th Battalion, Yorkshire Regt. (Green Howards) and had served in France throughout most of the war.  However in mid-1918 he was moved to Italy where he was posted for six months before dying of wounds in Montecchio Precalino Field Hospital.  He was laid to rest in Montecchio Precalino Communal Cemetery.
