Silas TAYLOR (24422, Private)

b. 1893, Filey  d. Sat. 3rd Feb. 1917 (aged 24)

 

 

            Left Filey in about 1911 to move to Wisbech, and to work as a boot salesman and enlisted on January 26th 1916 into the 2nd Battalion, Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry at the same time as his brother William.  He went to France in June 1916, and was in the Somme Offensive, which he survived without being wounded.  He was killed in action and was buried in Auchonvillers Cemetery.
